Carl Boyd Post 42

Honor Guard

Commander: Jack Pierce

The Honor Guard provides Military Honors during various ceremonies, Funerals, dedications and Parades.   The Post provides all uniforms, shoes and appropriate hats to support Honor Guard members.  M1 rifles are used to fire military salutes.

As a reminder, membership in the Honor Guard is FREE. We are always looking for additional members to join us. Please pass the word.  Basic eligibility requirements are:

  • Members must hold membership in and be in good standing with The American Legion, Sons of The American Legion or Auxillary.
  • Members must be able to stand for an extended time period and carry an M1 Rifle.  (Approx. 10.5 Lbs)
  • Transportation from the Legion to ceremony site is typically provided via the American Legion bus.

The Post 42 Honor Guard supported the Annual Wreaths Across America on 16 December at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.  Thousands of fellow citizens flocked to the Georgia Nation Cemetary for this annual event.  For more information or to volunteer for this awesome event next year, contact Jack Pierce.

In March we provided support for 5 services.  For the year the Honor Guard supported 15 services or five a month.  We continue to have the need for more volunteers.  We do NOT want to turn down any request for Veterans due to a shortage of personnel.

The current team consists of 12 active members, but we are always looking for more to join.  We regularly practice, so don't worry if your Drill and Ceremony skills have detoriated since you left service.
